Styrene Monomer Polyester resin contains 35% styrene and it acts as both the solvent and crosslinking agent. Styrene can be added to Polyester Resin at a rate of 3-10% to thin it down so that the Resin can be used as a primer to improve the adhesion of a laminate to wood.Learn More
Acetone is the most effective solvent cleaner to remove uncured resin from brushes and rollers and all laminating tools. It is also suitable for wiping down an area after sanding to prepare for the next stage e.g. applying Topcoat. Acetone should be kept in a container with a lid and stored in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight as it is highly flammable and evaporates quickly. It is not suitable for hand washing as it will dry out the skin.
Styrene Monomer is an excellent way to thin down Polyester Resin so it can be applied with a spray gun. This can be done to improve the adhesion of a laminate to wood. For further technical information, please click on the product.
