DIY Resin Driveway System

The FibreGlassDirect DIY resin driveway system is a flexible, two-part, resin binder system which, when used in conjunction with our range of aggregates will result in a hard-wearing, resin bonded finish.

The resin provided is a solvent-free, polyurethane hybrid resin. Polyurethane is well known for its durability and high performance as a resin coating. This is particularly important for driveway applications which will be subject to daily wear and tear. The DIY Resin Driveway system at FibreGlassDirect may also be used for paths and walkways.

Application

The system is ideally applied to concrete or asphalt surfaces at temperatures of around 20 degrees Celsius. This ensures that the system will cure adequately.

The DIY resin driveway is supplied in 17.5kg packs which covers an area of approximately 12 square metres. The kit may stretch to cover an area of 15 square metres. The coverage depends on how smooth the surface is to which the resin is applied. Once the resin is applied, the aggregate is scattered over the resin.

The usual fibreglass rules apply for a seamless application. This includes;

  • Ensure the surface is free from any dirt or debris
  • The surface must also be dry and sound in its construction
  • Ensure the pack instructions are followed correctly, including mixing ratios
  • Do not walk on the area during application
  • Surrounding areas not to be covered should be masked off
  • Check the weather forecast prior to application, rainfall may contaminate the resin and temperatures which are too cold or too hot will inhibit the curing process
